The credit must go to my immedi- ate boss, Steve Bannon, Chief Strat- egist to the President, who set the concrete goal of destroying the “physical caliphate” of ISIS, and with President Trump’s leadership, it was incredibly destroyed within an unbe- lievable five months. The organization that established the largest insurgency in the Middle East and had affiliates in Africa and Central Asia was devastated to such an extent that a threat we read about daily, thanks to President Trump, today seems like an ancient artifact of history. That is what American leader- ship looks like. And it wasn’t just our jihadist enemies. With a true leader back in the Oval Office, all of our adversaries were on notice, and our allies strength- ened. In fact, as deputy to the pres- ident, in my media appearances, I
borrowed a phrase from the Marine Corps to express the sea change in America’s stance: “No better friend. No worse enemy.” And the results were stunning. From canceling Obama’s truly insane Iran deal propping up the murderous mullahs in Iran to securing the border by building hundreds of miles of wall; from initiating a trade war with China to redress the massive imbalance in our economic relations to stabiliz- ing the Middle East with the Abram Accords, then a Peace Accord with North Korea, and revitalizing NATO, the 45 th President made us safer than any chief executive since Ronald Reagan. Now, that is ancient history. In just two years, we have seen a deliberate dismantling of everything we built in the name of putting Amer- icans first. Biden reopened the border, and the cartels were revitalized to
such an extent that more than 6,000 illegals are crossing into our country daily and more than 110,000 Amer- icans were killed by illicit drugs like fentanyl in the last 12 months. Russia has triggered war in Europe, armed with Iranian drones and fueled by Chinese energy supplies. Beijing is sending warships and military jets to harass our vessels and aircraft and holding joint intimidatory patrols with Russian forces off the coast of Alaska. Is another 9/11 just around the corner? The vice president of the Heritage Foundation, James Cara- fano, a weekly guest on my national radio show, believes so. Is World War III imminent after our surrender in Afghanistan, which signaled to the KGB colonel in the Kremlin that it was time to invade Ukraine?
