disappear in front of them — people were taken, we know hundreds of millions of people have left the earth — you know that people will find a way to just come up with reasons,” Sorbo said. “They’ll never admit that the Bible has any kind of truth to it whatsoever.” Sorbo noted that there are many parallels between the film and our world today — including a pandemic, a deceptive news media, and growing aspirations for a globalized govern- ment — calling the film a “political action thriller.” But, he continued, the film is not intended for a strictly Chris- tian audience. “People of all walks of life can see this,” he continued. “I want [Christians] to bring friends that are agnostic, atheist, people that are left in their politics — I want everybody to see this movie, because it’s got some- thing for everybody in it.” Left Behind is just the latest faith- based film that has hit the big screen in recent years. Father Stu , a 2022 flick starring Mark Wahlberg, who plays a troubled boxer-turned-Catholic priest suffering from a progressive muscle disorder, was also a major success at the box office. Fatima , a 2020 film based on the true story of two chil- dren who experienced apparitions of the Virgin Mary, was also the subject of critical acclaim. And the massively popular 2019 film Unplanned , which follows the journey of Planned Parenthood director-turned-pro-life activist Abby Johnson, was an unex- pected box-office success.
